Subject: My Old Box Of Memories

Dear Mr. Allen,

My wife and I recently visited The Armed Forces Military Museum in Largo Florida where we live.  On the way out I purchased your book.

Today I finished it.  I wanted to express to you how much your book moved me.  There were parts that made me cry.

I never served in the military; the draft had been eliminated by the time I was eligible.  And like many others, I did not know much about the Korean War.  I bought your book primarily to educate myself about it.  But I got much more than I bargained for. What your book gave me was an incredibly strong sense of gratitude for the sacrifices men like you made for the rest of us.

I wanted to write to you simply to say "Thank you."  Thank you for your book; I know writing it was not easy.  Thank you for your service.  Thank you for reminding all of us of the forgotten soldiers who never made it home.  You have done them a great service.

Angelo Giambra
