Wallace “Dog” Yahn, “G” Company, 34th Infantry Regiment, Dec 13, 1944 to Nov 23, 1946
I am trying to figure out history of the places my father served. His name was Wallace “Dog” Yahn. My mother says that he was in the 34th Infantry Regiment, Company G.
He was enlisted Dec 13, 1944 and was released Nov 23, 1946. I believe he was stationed in FT Dix, NJ before arriving in the Far East.
He did mop up work after the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Among his WWII items is a Purple Heart, which my mother tells me was given to him by its owner during the war. I would sure love to know who might have been in his company or who it belonged to.
My Father died of Cancer in 1986 when I was 18 years old. He never talked much about his time in WWII so I am in the dark about this aspect of a man I loved so much.
My family would be grateful for any information you might have. Thank you so much for your time and attention.
